Spicejet which recently began passenger services from Surat to Mumbai and Delhi will now start air-cargo services beginning from April.
Spicejet intends to start passenger cum cargo services, once it gets approvals from relevant agencies.
Surat is catering to almost 65-70% of the national requirement of synthetic fabrics. Traders from all over the country visit Surat, so the air-cargo service will tremendously benefit the industry, said, Mr Rohit Mehta, President – SGCCI.
He added, “SpiceJet has currently connected Surat with New Delhi and Mumbai. Hence, indirectly Surat is connected to the whole of India because; one can get connecting flights through these important metros”.
“The passenger services coupled with air-cargo facilities will ultimately increase business of the textile and diamond sector in Surat”, he observed.
